Autumn Leaves

Hello Everyone, it's Diane here with a colorful card for Classy Cards 'n Such. I am super excited to share some of my creative projects with you the next few months!

Today I have this gorgeous fall wreath made with Impression Obsession Leaves die set. The set comes with 5 different leaves, and I have used 4 today, each cut 4 times. The leaves have been painted with different tones of color from the Autumn Brilliance Twinkling H2Os. Oh my, these are so fun and easy to work with and add such a gorgeous twinkle.

I kept my card, though layered, rather simple so the focus is on the wreath itself.  Each leaf was mounted with Joy! Foam Pads Small.  My wreath is mounted on one of my very favorite Cheery Lynn Design dies called French Pastry Doily Die. This is a beautiful, but intricate die, and I can highly recommend the Cuttlehug, large and Crafter's Tools, both by Cheery Lynn Designs to enable you to have a perfect cut every time!!

The background paper under the wreath is a lovely design from Simple Stories - Vintage Bliss. It is a stunning 6 x 6 paper pad, and even the little butterfly you see is from the pack.

I hope you have enjoyed my card for today and have fun creating one of your own!!

So very colorful! Thanks Diane!!

Framed Card Tutorial

Today we have a tutorial from Shelly, one of our guest designers. We invite you to follow along to learn how to make a fast and easy framed card.

Here are Shelly's step by step instructions:

A simple framed card that is so easy to make. I have used
Spellbinders Matting Basics  and  Spellbinders Foliage dies.

Above you see how I arrange my dies for the frame. I have two examples using the Matting Basics. The first is slightly wider and has been textured in a Flora Spellbinders M-Bossabilities embossing folder.

The other frame has been embossed using the Matting Basics dies themselves. I leave the low tack painters masking tape on after die cutting and run it through the die cut machine again, using the soft rubber embossing mat.

Once the Spellbinders Foliage leaves have been cut and embossed, I use the flat portions of paper egg cartons to create a 3-D look. You can cut that egg carton to any size AND you are recycling. It’s fast, easy and makes your husband look at you strangely. (Oh dear, what is she up to now?)
The foliage die cut on this card is from Marianne Designs.

The background is made with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist.

Thanks, Shelly for such a great tutorial!

Inspired Happy Birthday

Hello crafty friends!  Karen here with a sweet little card showcasing the lovely papers from the Simple Stories Vintage Bliss Collection.

I used three different patterned papers from that lovely collection, and a coordinating chipboard frame from the same collection.  Some of the sweet embellishments include some Spooled Twines from Doodlebug and a darling Happy Birthday sentiment from the Inspirational Birthday Rubz Set from My Sentiments Exactly.

This set of Rubz - Birthday Inspirational is awesome because it has the Happy Birthday sentiment in the set, which I used on the outside/bottom of the card, and it also comes with a birthday sentiment that I placed on the inside of the card by matting it on the same Simple Stories Vintage Bliss papers.

I encourage you to check out all the delightful trims, Rubz, and embellishments from Classy Cards 'n Such that are sure to help make your cards stand out.  Happy crafting!
What a pretty card, Karen!

Slanted Hugs

Hi folks, it's Holly posting today.  I've been playing with some of my new toys from Classy Cards 'n Such, and I ended up making this fun, "tilted" card to share with y'all.

I started by stamping the Impression Obsession Vines Cover-A-Card  background stamp with some pale brown ink onto a Kraft cardstock base.  I then added a strip of vanilla paper but  tilted it to one side.  I die cut the Cheery Lynn Designs - Hugs sentiment from dark brown cardstock and glued it down on the vanilla paper. This is actually the larger size die cut from the set.

Next came some strips of die cut "ribbon" on both sides of the vanilla paper - totally fun to mix and match!  It's actually cardstock that I cut with the new Cheery Lynn Designs - Allison's Ribbons dies. You get a ton of different "ribbon" styles with this die set (there are two dies in the package). I cut all the ribbons from both brown cardstock and some peachy cardstock.  I picked out two dark brown "ribbons" and one peach-colored ribbon.  The peach ribbon is glued to one of the brown ribbons and then glued below the vanilla strip.  The other brown ribbon was glued above the vanilla strip.

With my basic background in place, I moved on to the flourish and the flower.  I die cut the Cheery Lynn Designs -Fanciful Flourish from green paper, and then I cut the flourishes apart with scissors.  I love cutting the flourishes apart so I can move the individual flourishes around to wherever I need them.  I glued them down in the general area where I knew my flower was going to go.

The last thing I worked on was cutting out and assembling the flower.  I die cut some peach-colored paper with the Cheery Lynn Designs - Black Eyed Susan Strip. Then I cut the center fringe (on the same die with the Black Eyed Susan Strip from dark brown paper.  I used a quilling tool to roll up the fringe and set it aside to dry.  I pinched all of the flower petals with my fingers, glued the layers together, and fluffed up the petals.  I picked up the rolled-up fringe and used my fingers to spread the fringes out, then I glued this down into the center of my flower petals.  I glued the flower down over the green flourishes.

I had a lot of fun creating this card.  I used some new dies, and tried out this new tilted style on my card.  The new ribbon dies are so much fun - there's so many different styles you can use!

 Beautiful! Thanks Holly!!

Winterland Christmas Tree Card

Hi!  It's Misti again!  I actually made a card without any coloring on it!! LOL.  I really do like how this card turned out. It was much better than my first experience with Memory Box.

In December, I ordered a die, called my mom and told her I had a new toy that I was going to bring with me to her house.  My boys had an awards banquet nearby  and we were going to spend the night with them. Mom and I were really excited to try out the new die. She pushed it through the embossing machine and we took the plate off... epic fail!  We tried again, adding a few more pieces of paper as a shim. Still didn't work. We tried a couple of more times and our luck didn't change, so we gave up.

Fast forward to this summer. I really paid attention to a couple of blogs that were showing off the newest release and I realized that I had forgotten one important thing... the metal shim!  Learn from me and get a metal shim!  LOL.

Supplies used:
Layering Swatches -I used the Dark Green
The Cuttlehug - Cheery Lynn Designs - Large Shim

Great card for the holidays, Misti!

Happiness

Hi, it's Holly posting today.  I've been playing around with my supplies from Classy Cards 'n Such, and this card sums up a nice happy day surrounded by creativity.

I used quite a few supplies on this card, so I will list them first and then explain how this card is put together.

You Are Beautiful stamp set (Impression Obsession)
City Girl Edger die (Cheery Lynn Designs)
Anastasia Border die (Cheery Lynn Designs)
Lady Kate Edger die (Cheery Lynn Designs)

I started this card by adhering a leftover piece of paper from the Vintage Bliss 6x6 paper pad to some white cardstock and then I glued that down on my bermuda blue card base.  Next, I cut the three border/edger dies from three different colors of blue cardstock.  I arranged them on top of each other, starting at the bottom of my card base.

Next, I needed a little pop of non-blue color, so I pulled out my seam binding, cut off a long section of it, and then pounced some of the lemonade yellow stain all over the ribbon.  I scrunched it up and let it dry completely before I wrapped it around my card and tied it into a crumpled bow.

The sentiment from the You Are Beautiful stamp set was stamped with blue ink onto white cardstock and then matted with a slightly larger piece of the bermuda blue cardstock.  I played around with the rhinestone swirls and then decided to cut some of them apart so they would fit onto my card.  One tiny swirl was affixed to the top right corner of my sentiment and the larger swirl was affixed below my sentiment.

I hope you've enjoyed the wonderful artwork that our guest designers have been creating!  Be sure to leave them some love in the comments to let them know how much you appreciate their creations.  :-)

Thanks Holly. Your card is so bright and happy!

Prayers - A Sympathy Card

I am so thrilled that Joy Hadden agreed to join the Classy Cards Design Team as a Guest Designer!   She will be sharing her lovely creations with us over the next few weeks.   You can see more of her beautiful work here.

Hi – Joy here today.  I was so honored when Beverly, owner of Classy Cards 'n Such asked me to be a guest designer.  What a special privilege this is - I am excited about this opportunity!

I needed to make a sympathy card -- so here we go --

1. Sponge a piece of cardstock with Tim Holtz Weathered Wood Distress Ink. Then mist a background stamp from Impression Obsessions called Vine with water from a Spritzer Bottle. Stamp on the inked cardstock – then add a few inked spots with an Ice White Viva Décor Pearl Pen.

2. Die cut some flowers from the Cheery Lynn Build a Flower #1 and #2.

3. Heat emboss prayers sentiment from JustRiteStampers called Botanical Medallions and Banners with Detail White Embossing Powder on a piece of vellum.

3.  Punch a little border from pink & white paper then assemble flowers on vellum and assemble on card.

I’ll add an encouraging sentiment on the inside and mail to a family friend.  Thanks for looking at my card.  Here is a list of the supplies I used:

Have a HAPPY stamping day!
Such a pretty card, Joy!

Cheery Lilies

I am delighted to introduce another of guest designers!  Diane Hover is a very talented designer as you will soon see!  You can see more of her work on her blog here.  Grab a cup of coffee or a Diet Coke and enjoy her eye candy below!

Well, hello my garden friends!  Diane visiting with you today!  Don't you love flowers?  I know I do and when all these flower dies started popping up in the Classy Cards 'n Such shop, I was super excited!!

Today I am showing you two similar, but very different cards using some of the Cheery Lynn Designs Build A Flower and Embellishment dies. These dies contain numerous petals, bases, and leaves to build an endless garden of flowers.

One of the easiest flowers to make is a lily...goodness, there are so many colors of lilies, it is hard to choose one!!

Both flowers were built using the dies listed below:

The orange flower was colored with Tim Holtz Distress Ink Markers. The colors used were Spiced Marmalade, Rusty Hinge, and Dried Marigold.

Did you know that Classy Cards 'n Such has a wonderful marker club you can join to get all the fab marker colors?  There are also 12 new colors you can pre-order now!!

The pink flowers were colored with the PanPastels Flower Coloring Kit - Susan's Garden.

Both cards have the gorgeous Memory Box Quinn Flourish under the lily and the Spellbinders Classic Edges Two for trim.

The paper used on the pink card is from Kaiser Craft called The Lake House 6.5" x 6.5" paper pad. The paper used on the orange card is Graphic 45 Secret Garden. The one in stock is a bit different, but just as beautiful!!

A few other of my favorite products used are the
Cuttlehug.  This is a "must have" in my opinion to cut the intricate dies. You will be glad you bought it!!
Crafter's Tools by Cheery Lynn Designs are also very useful for the intricate dies.

I hope you enjoyed the lilies and I will be back again soon with more creativeness!!

The great thing about a lily is that they just make you smile. Diane did a wonderful job using the various dies to put the lilies together!

Don't Throw Out Your Scraps!!

Hi everyone!  It's Karen posting today. One tip I'd like to share with you all is "Don't Throw Out Your Scraps"!!  By saving the little pieces left over from making cards and projects, you can create all sorts of things.  I made this card using little end pieces and left-overs from several of the cards I've made recently.

The base patterned paper is from the Webster's Pages Spring Market Collection.  All the other little pieces are from this same collection and the Simple Stories Summer Fresh Paper Pad.  I pieced them all together and machine stitched them to the base.  Each piece is inked with the Tim Holtz Distress Inks in either Barn Door Red or Bundled Sage.

The sentiment I used is a rub-on from the My Sentiments Exactly Friends Set.  I tied some baker's twine into a few coordinating buttons, and adhered them to my card using 1/8" Scor-Tape which works perfectly for safely securing embellishments.  I stapled a small piece of the Natural Trim to the side of the card, and also sewed down a piece of the darling Trendy Tape in Polka Dot Red.

I hope you'll take some time today to check out all the darling supplies available at Classy Cards 'n Such.  Have a great day!
