Thankful

Welcome friends! Mindy here, with my sample card for this weeks card challenge at Classy Cards 'n Such.  This week's theme is #109 Gobble-Gobble, because Thanksgiving is just around the corner. There are many things I am thankful for, especially the many followers of our blog and newsletter.

I started today's card with an embossing folder that is NEW at the Classy Cards store. It is the Braided Vines embossing folder by Sue Wilson, and is one of the larger sized folders, 8.5" X 12". The only problem I had was my machine is one of the smaller models and the folder was too big to fit. I am planning to get a new machine soon with the larger plate, so I decided to use the folder in a different way. I opened it and applied my ink on the raised side, then stamped the image on my background stock. I then inked around the edge before adhering to my card base.

I then die cut a stitched oval and used Joy! Small Foam pads to adhere it to my card.

I then cut two Classic Tom Turkeys, from Memory Box, and a handful of leaves from the Small Leaf Set by Impression Obsession.  I colored the small leaves with many colors from the Complete set of Earth Tone Color Bursts from Ken Oliver Crafts, on watercolor paper, then adhered them with Art Institute Dries Clear Adhesive.

The sentiment used was from the I Am Thankful stamp set from Impression Obsession, and I added a few hand-cut sequins from the Sequins Die-namics die from My Favorite Things.

I hope you have enjoyed my card, and will join us for our challenge this week.

My Dear Friend

Hello, it's Joy! Getting ready for Thanksgiving?  If you are the challenge at Classy Cards 'n Such will get you in the mood!  It's called #109 Gobble, Gobble - add a turkey to your card.

The bookmark/tab and circle/sunburst die cuts are from the Blueprints 13, and the stitched stripe border is from the die set Blueprints 3, both by My Favorite Things.

The papers are from 2 different 6" x 6" pads from Simple Stories, called Harvest Lane and Pumpkin Spice.

The "Thank God for You" sentiment is from the set called You Are Beautiful, by Impression Obsession, and the tiny "to my dear friend" sentiment is from JustRite stamps called Floral Fan Elements. These were popped up using the Joy! Small Foam Pads.

How would you add a turkey to your project?  Now, it's your turn to show us what you would do with Classy Card 'n Such's #109 Gobble Gobble challenge. We would love to see what you would do with this challenge. You could be the winner of a nice prize!

Autumn Shaker

Hi there, Diane with you today!

Here we are at the first of November and soon it will be
turkey time! Which brings us to our fun challenge #109 this week at Classy Cards 'n Such, with a theme of Gobble Gobble, add a turkey!

I first started by using the Ken Oliver Color Bursts puffed on a wet piece of water color paper (the smoother side).
Colors used were Yellow OchrePthalo GreenSepia, and Burnt Orange, in that order.

I used my heat tool to dry the paper, then cut out three turkey feather sections using PoppyStamps Festive Turkey. Joy! Small Foam Pads were used to pop up each of the three layers. Here is a side view of the layers.

Once the turkey was finished (time to eat...lol). I decided to make a shaker card. I used a Spellbinders Basic Circle die and used the negative cut from that.

I cut a clear piece of plastic I recycled from packaging and using Scor-Tape 1/4", I adhered it to the card stock negative.

I stamped a row of trees, added foam tape then sequins for the shaker. However, I didn't have any sequins in all the colors I wanted for fall, so I quickly grabbed My Favorite Things Sequins die, and die cut my own from Yellow Iris Shimmer Sheetz and Orange Iris Shimmer Sheetz.

Thank you for visiting with me today!!

Turkey Time

Hello, card making friends.  It is Shirley posting today, and I have a card I made for the #109 Gobble Gobble challenge to share with you.

It won't be long and we will be preparing our shopping list to make a fabulous Thanksgiving dinner. This little turkey on the card asks you to "Eat Ham, Please". ~grin~

I started the card with a brown card base.  I used the Spellbinders A2 Scalloped Borders Three on the white card stock to make the decorative border.

I took a piece of Mandarin Curious Metallic card stock and embossed it using the Dots embossing folder. I cut brown and white circle scallops and placed the turkey (sticker) in the center. I popped it up on the circle using Joy Large Foam Dots.

I hope you will start on your turkey card, and upload it to the blog for all of us to see.
