Bold Dot Tape Card

Hi, it's Holly posting today!

Sometimes you just gotta break out of your stamping rut and go with different colors, different patterns, or different layouts to recharge your creativity.  That's what I did with this bold and dotty card.

I pulled out the Trendy Tapes that I had bought from Classy Cards 'n Such, and I picked out the ones with the polka dots on them. I started with a white card base and laid down a strip of the Polka Dot Pink Trendy Tape on the right side. Next to that, I laid down some Polka Dot Green Trendy Tape.  Next I pulled out the Polka Dot Black Trendy Tape and put a strip down at the bottom of the card, crossing over the green and pink tapes that I had already laid down. I followed up with another strip of the Polka Dot Pink Trendy Tape above the black tape.

I pulled out the Happy Birthday stamp set by Stampavie, and stamped the birthday sentiment with black ink in the white space next to the washi tapes.

The flowers were cut from the Miniature Rose, the Medium Rose, and the Large Rose dies from Cheery Lynn Designs.  I gave the flower petals some texture and dimension by using tweezers from the Paper Blossoms Tool Kit to curl the edges up.  Once the flowers were assembled, I used some small black brads in the centers of the flowers to hold them together.  I then glued the flowers down onto the card.

I love the bright colors and the polka dot patterns on this card.  The use of white space really helps the washi tapes stand out.  I hope you've enjoyed this bold and fun card today!

A bright and cheerful way to send greetings! Thanks Holly!

Trendy Tape

Shelly Newkirk, one of our amazing guest designers, came up with a great way to use Trendy tape on her card.

Supplies used:

Trendy Tape
(all Trendy or Washi tapes are found in Embellishments)

I began with a basic white card base. Cut a piece of white card stock slightly smaller than the card front about 5.25 x 4 inches.

Next I placed Trendy Tape on the piece of card stock at an angle, leaving space that is “untaped” at the upper left and lower right corners. The ends of the tape can be folded over the edge of the paper or cut off.

A small greeting can be stamped in either of the above corners.

Attach to the card front.

To make the tape colors "pop", I cut a piece of black card stock the exact same size as the card front, which is 5.50 x 4.25 inches.

I used one of the Spellbinders Matting Basics dies to create a simple frame. Place the die in the center of the black card stock and cut.  The size of the die will determine the width of your frame. The smaller the die, the wider the frame.

This step can be skipped if so desired.  I like the 3-D effect created by attaching flat pieces of egg carton to the back of the frame.

The frame goes over the Trendy Tape (also known as washi tape), that is attached to the card front.

For an embellishment, on the lower right corner of the frame, I attached three small gun metal pearls.

This would be a great way to use up your snippets of left over tapes you have from your other projects!

Great idea for a quick card! Thanks Shelly!

Don't Throw Out Your Scraps!!

Hi everyone!  It's Karen posting today. One tip I'd like to share with you all is "Don't Throw Out Your Scraps"!!  By saving the little pieces left over from making cards and projects, you can create all sorts of things.  I made this card using little end pieces and left-overs from several of the cards I've made recently.

The base patterned paper is from the Webster's Pages Spring Market Collection.  All the other little pieces are from this same collection and the Simple Stories Summer Fresh Paper Pad.  I pieced them all together and machine stitched them to the base.  Each piece is inked with the Tim Holtz Distress Inks in either Barn Door Red or Bundled Sage.

The sentiment I used is a rub-on from the My Sentiments Exactly Friends Set.  I tied some baker's twine into a few coordinating buttons, and adhered them to my card using 1/8" Scor-Tape which works perfectly for safely securing embellishments.  I stapled a small piece of the Natural Trim to the side of the card, and also sewed down a piece of the darling Trendy Tape in Polka Dot Red.

I hope you'll take some time today to check out all the darling supplies available at Classy Cards 'n Such.  Have a great day!

Red, White & Blue Thank You

Hello again my crafty friends!  Karen Letchworth here with another cute and easy Simple Stories "Thank You" card using several awesome supplies found at Classy Cards 'n Such that I'd like to share with you.

The base of this darling card is made from two different patterned papers from the Simple Stories 6x6 Summer Fresh Paper Pad as is the cute little "Details" journaling card you see where I placed a rub-on sentiment.  I hope that by now, I've made you realize that this Simple Stories 6x6 Summer Fresh Paper Pad is a "must-have" item from the Classy Cards 'n Such Store.  It's just FILLED with darling prints and journaling spots for card-making and scrapbook layouts.

I embellished this lovely little card with some machine stitching, a Frilly Flourish White Pearl Swirl, a snippet of Queen & Co. Trendy Tape in Polka Dot Red that I machine stitched to the patterned paper, a bow made from the sweet Chalk White Seam Binding; some of which is hand-dyed. In the center of the bow, you will find a navy blue button tied with baker's twine.

I'd be happy to answer any questions you might have about how the card was made, or the supplies I used on it.  Just leave a comment on this post. I would LOVE to see what creations you make with some new supplies from Classy Cards 'n Such.   Happy scrapping - I'm always here to help!
Here's the link to Karen's tutorial about how to hand dye your seam binding.   If you purchase seam binding from Classy Cards by Tuesday, July 2nd, Karen will put your name into a drawing for a bottle of Glimmer Mist!

Country Red Daisy

Hi folks!  It's Holly posting today.  How about a sweet little red daisy to put a smile on your face?

I had a fun time playing with some new Trendy Tape on this card.  See the red polka dot strips?  That's the Trendy Tape in Polka Dot Red - a self-adhesive paper tape that is easily removable if you stick it down in the wrong spot.  No need for glue or scissors - just unroll it, press it down where you want it, and then tear the end off just like you do with masking tape.  So easy and so fun!  Now I want to get all the other colors of this fun Trendy Tape!  You can find all the colors by looking under the Embellish tab and scrolling down and going to the next few pages.  :-)

After I put the tape down where I wanted it (four strips), I stamped the sentiment from Anytime Sentiments (Impression Obsession) in the middle.  The patterned paper on the left side is a piece that I cut out from the Summer Fresh 6x6 paper pad (Simple Stories).

For my flower, I first die cut some leaves from the Rose Leaf Strip (Cheery Lynn Designs) and then some daisies from the Daisy Strip (Cheery Lynn Designs).  I stacked three different sizes of daisies up and glued them together.  The leaves were glued to the back of the red daisy and then the whole thing was glued down on the patterned paper rectangle.  I finished off the daisy by affixing a white button tied with twine in the center.

I like the country-ish feel of this card.  It's fun, flirty, and simple - perfect for a sweet country girl who needs a smile in her mailbox.  :-)
I think even a city girl might smile when she receives a card as cute as this one, don't you??

A Butterfly

Hi Everyone. It's Jenn sharing with you today and I have a butterfly card that could be used for any occasion.

I started with a card base of 4.25 x 5.5. To that base, I added a distressed layer of designer paper from The Lake House Collection. Next, I added a rectangle layer of designer paper matted on cardstock and then embossed with the Lovely Lattice M-Bossabilities

On my next layer, I rounded the top edges of the cardstock and then wrapped some Pink Polka Dot Trendy Tape around it in an "X" shape.  I love using trendy tape in place of ribbon. You get all the fabulous colors and patterns and the adhesive is already built in. Makes card making so easy. Once I had the tape wrapped around, I went ahead and stamped my sentiment. Then I adhered a scallop die cut border to the base of it. This border is a die-cut that comes from The Lake House paper pad.

Now, for finishing touches...using the same patterned paper and the Cheery Lynn Designs Exotic Butterfly die (small #2) I die cut a butterfly and added Pink rhinestones to the body. This, along with three Hot Pink rhinestones under the sentiment, topped it off perfectly.

Beautiful, Jenn!!  Thanks!

Happy Spring

Hi Everyone. It's Jenn posting today. I don't know about you, but I'm ready for Spring and if I can't have it in my weather then I will create my own Spring in my cards.

I started out with a 4.25 x 5.5 base of Pearlized Esse White Metallic. To the left side, I added a strip of Trendy Tape in Polka Dot Green.

Using some textured green cardstock and the Spellbinders D-Lites Fantastic Flourish One, I cut out the beautiful flourish and made it the focal point of my card. I added some White Pearls in various sizes to the mini flower centers.

Using white cardstock and a Spellbinders Labels Eighteen, I cut out a label to stamp my sentiment on.

For the perfect finishing touch, I added a Prima Gillian flower in White to the upper left hand corner. These precious little puffs of sheer fabric just "scream spring" to me.

The sentiment on this card could easily be switched out to make a classy "happy birthday" or "thank you" card. So many possible options and very little time required. When time is of the essence, I recommend using Trendy Tape in place of ribbon and a Spellbinders D-Lites Shapeabilities as your focal point. You can't go wrong.

Thanks, Jenn!   Such a cute and pretty card!!

Sofia Heart Valentine & NEW Cheery Lynn release now available!!!

Hi everyone! It's Jenn and I'm feeling some love in the air so today I'm going to share a Valentine's Day card with you.

To create this card, I started with a 5.5 x 4.25 card base made with Pearlized Esse White Metallic cardstock.
I created my own background by using Trendy Tape by Queen and Co. in Polka Dot Red and Stripe Red. Trendy Tapes add color and pattern without adding bulk to your card.

For the focal point of my card, I die cut three Sofia Hearts out of Stardream Jupiter cardstock and arranged them in a triangle.

Finishing touches include a sentiment stamped on a label adorned with some Red Pearls.

I love how beautiful your card is, Jenn!  Striking, yet simple.

The January release of NEW Cheery Lynn dies is now available in the Classy Cards shop!  It is awesome!  Click here to see all of the new Cheery Lynn dies and much more!
