Autumn Shaker

Here we are at the first of November and soon it will be

turkey time! Which brings us to our fun challenge #109 this week at Classy Cards 'n Such, with a theme of Gobble Gobble, add a turkey!

I first started by using the Ken Oliver Color Bursts puffed on a wet piece of water color paper (the smoother side).

Colors used were Yellow Ochre, Pthalo Green, Sepia, and Burnt Orange, in that order.

I used my heat tool to dry the paper, then cut out three turkey feather sections using PoppyStamps Festive Turkey. Joy! Small Foam Pads were used to pop up each of the three layers. Here is a side view of the layers.

Once the turkey was finished (time to eat...lol). I decided to make a shaker card. I used a Spellbinders Basic Circle die and used the negative cut from that.

I cut a clear piece of plastic I recycled from packaging and using Scor-Tape 1/4", I adhered it to the card stock negative.

I stamped a row of trees, added foam tape then sequins for the shaker. However, I didn't have any sequins in all the colors I wanted for fall, so I quickly grabbed My Favorite Things Sequins die, and die cut my own from Yellow Iris Shimmer Sheetz and Orange Iris Shimmer Sheetz.

Hello!  Diana here to share with you a card I made in honor of CCNS's 100th challenge. What's more festive than some music - and then you have to shake to it, right?

For my shaker card, I used MFT Blueprints 13 as my base, as well as the curved bracket tag in the same set for my shaker window.

The musical elements are from Memory Box new release: Elegant Musical Staff and Melody Music. Because the staff is so thin and dainty, instead of gluing it on top and getting glue everywhere on the Clear card stock, I used the inlaid die-cutting technique behind the shaker elements.This insured that the staff spacing would not be compromised also.

I used 1/8 Scor-tape and Large Foam Pads to adhere all my layers after I added colorful Rhinestones and Sequins into my shaker window.  The black music notes were cut using self adhesive black card stock. I had them arranged across the Clear card stock and, onto the white card stock, as well as some Rhinestones. I like the look of them flying out the window.

I Heart You

Hi, it's Diana with another shaker card!  I hope you are not too tired of them. It's quite easy to take an element in a card to turn it into a shaker card or vice versa. 

Here I used Spellbinders Heart Circles (on sale now in the Classy Cards 'n Such store) to make my frame. I even saved some of the red hearts from the negative of the dies to use inside my shaker element. I used both Spellbinders A2 Matting Basics A and the stitched die from MFT Blueprints 13 for my layers.

The shaker element was made using foam and 1/8" Score-Tape to secure my layers. I love Scor-Tape, it's so strong and easy to use. With shaker cards, that might get a lot of handling, you want a strong tape.

Before I adhered everything together, I added a silver heart element and glued it to the center of my back layer. Out of the same SB Precious Metals Craft Foil, I die cut the letters  "i" and "u", using lower case alphabet dies.

Finally, I used a white gel pen to add stitching detail to my heart doily, to match the stitching around my card.

Winter Shaker Card

Hi, it's Diana again with another shaker card!  I just love making them and I think they are fun to receive too!

Today I am added a shaker element to my fishtail banner. The layers are made by die-cutting MFT Blueprint 13 from white card stock. With the background layer, I made a snowflake background using Dreamweaver's Regular embossing paste and Memory Box Winter Tiny Snowflakes stencil.

Setting that aside to dry, I started working on my shaker element. First, I centered the new release from PoppyStamps Serendipity Bird Frame on my banner. I then used the same die on Spellbinders Precious Metals Craft Foil, once on silver foil and again on red foil.

Before adhering my layers together, I traced the oval opening onto some fun foam to make room for my beads. I cut 1/8" Scor-Tape to adhere my layers. White cut out banner, clear acetate, and then fun foam. I wrapped some silver floss around my banner before I placed my beads where the opening would be. Using more 1/8" Scor-Tape to adhere my layered banner onto my snowflake embossed background. 

I then glued on my silver branched frame and popped up the red birds onto the acetate with small Joy! foam pads. Finally, I tied a knot to my silver floss, added a little tag featuring a sentiment from ODBD Mini Tag Sentiments and Die set embossed with Silver Detail embossing powder.
