Bougainvillea

Our card Challenge #59 for this week at Classy Cards n' Such is Christmas Blooms.

Hello friends, Mindy with you today, to share a different bloom for Christmas with you on my card. I live in South Texas and winters are normally very mild here.  We usually don't get the colder weather until January or February. My mother had a very beautiful bougainvillea in her yard that bloomed into December.

I am using the die set by Susan Tierney-Cockburn, Bougainvillea Thinlits, by Sizzix, as the focal point for my card.

To begin, I used an A2 size card front of the lovely Stardream Rose Quartz Metallic Paper, and the Matelasse embossing folder from Anna Griffin to give my card a delicate embossed design.

I then started making my flower spray.  Again, with the Bougainvillea die set from Sizzix and Susan's Garden, I die cut the petals, stamen, and pistil from the Rose Quartz metallic paper.  I formed each flower using the detailed instructions included with the die set and the Susan's Garden Tool Kit.

The green foliage in the kit was cut and formed from some green card stock I had a scrap of on my desk. I used Art Institute Dries Clear Adhesive to glue the flower and foliage parts because of its clear drying capabilities.

I used a brown length of rolled paper cording as my branch base, and a small Kraft colored stamped tag cut with the Ho Ho Holly Leaves by Memory Box for my holly sprigs. Pink Rock Candy was used for my holly berries for some added bling. My sentiment was added with the word "HOLIDAY" stamped on the Pennant Swag die cut from Our Daily Bread Designs, and the word "Wishes" from the Greeting Set by Impression Obsession.

Of course, this card will need to be hand-delivered or mailed in a 3-D plastic box because of it's dimensional flowers but with all of the beautiful details, it will become a showpiece wherever it is displayed.

Thank you for joining me here today!
