I Love Music

Hello everyone!

It's Debbie today, and I thought I would surprise Beverly and the design team, with my take on the Musical Motif challenge this week. I love music, so this was an extra fun challenge for me.

I started out with a heavy cardstock for the base. I cut the sheet music to fit the card and gave it a light swipe of Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pads of Pumice Stone and Tea Dye. Using both colors, gives me the look of old piano keys that have been yellowed over time.

Using black cardstock, I die cut the Piano Border by Memory Box. What a great way to remember my great uncle giving me piano lessons.

The red and white background labels above the keyboard, were cut out using the Spellbinders Decorative Labels Eight dies. I used the smallest die in the set.

I wanted to also feature musical notes from the sheet music. I grabbed some white chipboard and die cut the Musical Motif set, also by Memory Box. I colored the cuts with a black marker.

For the heart, I used the Heart Flourish by Impression Obsession. I cut all the extending parts off, to just use the heart outline.

To make my notes and heart stand out, I covered each one with a Versamark pad. For the Musical Motif set, I mixed Black Detail embossing powder and Crystal Ice Ultra fine glitter in a small bowl. I used my small heat gun to heat set the glitter. I covered the notes with my Versamark pad again, then I dipped the notes in a thick clear embossing enamel, and heat set. For the heart, I just used the Versamark pad and the embossing enamel. Now they look like glass with glitter! I added small Joy! Foam Pads under all the notes and heart for dimension.

I hope you enjoy our challenge this week. It would be fun to have you enter and win the prize for the week!

Roses and Music

Hi, Joy here today! This week Beverly, owner of Classy Cards 'n Such, challenged us to use a music theme in our projects.  We could use die cuts, sheet music or music notes. What a fun challenge!

I stamped the Garden Rose from B Line Designs on a piece of music designer paper.  I then used Spun Sugar, Victorian Velvet, Bundled Sage and Peeled Paint distress ink markers by Tim Holtz to color. I love these markers. Shading is quite easy to achieve and I like the look.

Once I was done coloring my stamp design, I used a die from Spellbinders called Labels Twenty-Five to cut the music designer paper. It is layered on top of a Spellbinders Majestic Labels 25 die, for the background frame.

The Happy Birthday sentiment is from the Ornate Frame Sentiments by Our Daily Bread Designs. It is stamped on a Teramo Labels die by Memory Box, which I shaded with ink using the Mini Ink Blending Tool.  This is a fabulous stamp set to add to your collection. It has so many stamps and beautiful script in several different sizes.

Dies:
Labels Twenty-Five by Spellbinders
Teramo Labels by Memory Box

Stamps:
Garden Rose by B Line Designs
Ornate Frame Sentiments from Our Daily Bread

Distress Markers:
Other:
Mini Ink Blending Tool - oh, how I love this little tool, it makes it easy to ink in small spaces.

Hope you have as much fun as I did meeting this music challenge.  Have a HAPPY stamping day!

Your card is so delightful! Thanks Joy!

Peaceful Music

Hi folks, it's Holly posting today!

Have you played in our Music challenge yet?  Dig out your old sheet music, die cut some musical notes, or pull out a music background stamp and show us what you can create!

For my card today, I pulled out the Shabby Music Background Stamp from JustRite, and stamped it with a pale gray ink onto some vanilla cardstock.  I sponged the edges with the same gray ink, and then again with some eggplant ink.

Next, I stamped the gorgeous Worn Rose Branch with the eggplant ink.  However, I used a little trick when stamping the rose branch.  Instead of inking and stamping, I inked up the stamp, then pressed the ink onto some scratch paper first.  Then I pressed the stamp onto my music paper.  This gives me a faded and much softer image, which is exactly what I wanted.  I repeated this two more times to fill in the space around the bottom.

The sentiment, from With Sympathy (JustRite), was stamped with eggplant ink and this time I stamped it directly from the ink pad.  You can see the difference in the full ink stamping of the sentiment versus the stamped-off ink from the rose branches.

I wanted to keep this card flat and mail-able, but I also wanted to add a little lace to my card.  I cut off the top right corner of my music paper and put down a strip of the 1/8" Scor Tape across the edge of the cut-off corner.  A small length of Ecru Delight lace was laid down onto the Scor Tape.

To fill in the bare corner, I cut out one of the corner dies from Lace Corner Deco F (Cheery Lynn Designs) from eggplant cardstock.  This corner piece was glued to the corner of the vanilla cardstock layer.  I then adhered my music paper to the vanilla layer, and then I glued the whole piece to an eggplant card base.
I hope you play along with our Music challenge.  I'd love to see how you use music on your projects!

Your card is so lovely! Thanks Holly!

Sing

Hello, Diane with you today!

I have a somewhat "vintage look" card I created for the challenge this week Musical Motifs.

I started my card with the gorgeous Stardream Rose Quartz metallic paper. I love the quality, 105# weight, and price of this paper. I wish you could see the pretty metallic sheen on this..so beautiful.

I cut Spellbinders Decorative Labels Eight and layered the Cheery Lynn Designs French Pastry Doily on top.

The next layer is Memory Box Bamboo Shoots, this happens to be another favorite die of mine!

I fussy cut my Impression Obsession bird image and popped him up using Joy! Foam Pads Large.

A few scrabble tiles were added. The butterflies were punched from Bo Bunny Soft Shades Double Dot-Designs paper pad.

I added a ribbon and bow. To the top of the bow, I added a  heart embellishment from a package of Resin Pretties green Whimsy Hearts. You can't help but love this delicate little heart, so detailed!

I hope you will join in our challenge this week. We would love to see your creation!

Your card is just lovely! Thanks Diane!
