Dream Big

Hello crafty friends!  I wanted to share a little project with you to show you all some of the creative ways you can use the wonderful trims and patterned papers available at Classy Cards 'n Such. 

For this project, I used a wooden spool that I had left over from some twine I had purchased.  I covered it with a strip of patterned paper from the Simple Stories Summer Fresh 6x6 Paper Pad.  I adhered everything to the spool using the 1/8" Scor-Tape which is a wonderful adhesive for all types of projects because it holds everything in place perfectly and permanently!  

Next, I used two of the DARLING trims from Classy Cards 'n Such including the Yellow Floral Trim at the top, and the Natural Trim at the bottom of the spool.  I used a toothpick to make my banner coming out of the spool by hot gluing it in.  The actual tag itself is also cut from the Simple Stories Summer Fresh 6x6 Paper Pad. I added some baker's twine, a felt heart, a Simple Stories flower sticker, a rub-on sentiment, and a mini pearl accent.  The edges of the tag are touched lightly with Tim Holtz Bundled Sage Distress Ink.

Good morning, Steph here with a bright and cheery card to brighten your day.

I chose some gorgeous pattern papers from the Simple Stories Vintage Bliss collection and matched them with some Banana Split Pop Tones cardstock, Stardream Rose Quartz cardstock and Gold Leaf Curious Metallic cardstock.  The cardstock is heavy enough for a card base yet easy enough to  die cut and emboss.

I used Spellbinders Labels Eighteen dies and die cut Banana Split Pop Tones and Stardream Rose Quartz cardstock.

For the flower, I used Memory Box's Dogwood Blossom die and Dogwood Blossom Outline die. These two dies perfectly coordinate.  I first cut them both from Wausau Index Green  cardstock then cut the Dogwood Blossom Outline die again from Stardream Rose Quartz.  Love the details.  The stamp is from JustRite Stampers With Sympathy set.

A Dare Card

Hi, It's Misti here & today I have a dare card to show you.  What's a dare card, you ask?  (You did wonder that, right?)  Grab a cup of tea & I'll tell you all about how this dare card came to be....

This morning, I was on the phone with a friend & she made the comment that she needed a "thinking of you" card to mail out.  She hadn't had time to make one because her kids were home for the summer.  (Now, let me insert something here... I homeschool my kids so I WANTED to say, welcome to my world!  *grin* )  INSTEAD... I said that we all had the same 24 hours & this was her season to have her kids at home.  She said, I bet you already have one made, don'tcha?  (I do,but I wasn't going to tell her that.)  I said it really doesn't take that much time to make a card when you get with it.  Here it is.... she DARED me to make a card while we were on the phone.  I asked what the "rules" were & she said no rules other than it had to be started & finished within 28 min.  Ready, set, go!!!  YIKES!!!  

Here's what I did...

I pulled out a panel that I used the Scor-Buddy & had made an OOPS on the other night.  I didn't throw it away, but kept it for a time when I could cover up my oops, good thing!  I saw that the JustRite With Sympathy set had a "thinking of you" sentiment in it, so I stamped it in black.  Then, I stamped the flower from JustRite's Botanical Medallions & Banners.    I grabbed the stamp package & used it as my palette.  Sorry for the glare on this, you can use any plastic surface, it doesn't have to be fancy. 

Color onto the plastic with your markers, making a spot for each separate color.   I used the following Tim Holtz Distress Markers: Peeled Paint, Mustard Seed, Vintage Photo, & Black Soot with the Tim Holtz Watercolor Brush.  It was super quick to pick up color from my palette & color in my image.  Cut the image down, add a couple of pieces of cardstock to mat it & then add the ribbon.   How long do you think it took me????  Drum roll, please... 26 minutes!!!!  No, it isn't the most elaborate card I've ever made, but I think it will make someone's day when they open their mailbox to an actual card & not more junk mail.

Gatefold Tutorial

Good morning, Steph here with a tutorial using some yummy products from the Classy Cards 'n Such shop.

I began with a sheet of white cardstock that was cut to 5 1/2" x 11".  Placing the long edge at the top of your Scor-Buddy, score it at 2 3/4".  Flip the paper around and score the other end, again at 2 3/4". 

Fold on the scored lines to create the flaps of the card.

Using Graphic 45's Secret Garden Paper Pad, pull 2 sheets of the lavender printed paper.  This paper pad is gorgeous with its double sided prints on one side and coordinating solid paper on the other side.  Cut 2 pieces of the print, each 2 1/2" x 5 1/4".  Then cut 2 pieces of the solid, each 2 5/8" x 5 3/8".  Adhere these two pieces together and place on the front flaps.  Just a slight edge of the white card shows.

I used Spellbinders Nested Oval Medallion Dies to cut the brown and green cardstock medallions onto which I planned to add my roses.   Placing adhesive only behind the left half of the brown medallion allows the card to open.   The roses are from the JustRite Stampers With Sympathy Stamp Set  and were colored  with Copic Markers in shades of purple to coordinate with the card. 

The banner stamp is from JustRite Stampers Botanical Medallions & Banners and I used the coordinating Spellbinders die from the Vintage Label and Banner Die set.   I first die cut and embossed the die, then stamped the sentiment on top.  I find I get a more precise stamped image this way.

For the interior, I used pattern paper from the Love Letters Paper Pad, cutting it into a 5" square and then matting it with brown cardstock before adhering to the interior.

The roses were added to the medallion with Joy Foam Adhesives for dimension. The banner was placed on top with two layers of Joy Foam Adhesives to help set it apart from the roses.

As you can see, I've mixed stamp sets and dies to create this card, so don't be afraid to mix and match your products to get different looks for your cards.

The God of Hope

Hi Everyone! It's Jenn and I'm sharing a card with you today that could be used for get well, thinking of you or encouragement. 

I started with a gray card base that measures 6 x 5.5. To the base I added one of my favorite patterns from the Glitz Designs French Kiss Collection. French Kiss is an elegant vintage collection of designer paper with shades of brown and gray.

Next using the gray cardstock and Spellbinders Decorative Labels Eight, I die-cut a label to stamp the Scripture on. I stamped the Scripture with white craft ink and then sprinkled white detail embossing powder over it and heat embossed. I sponged distress paint in silver on the edges of the label.

I knew I wanted flowers in my design so I pulled out Judy's Blooms Floral Dies by Cheery Lynn Designs. The blooms were cut out using the fleur de lis designer paper from the French Kiss Collection. The leaves were cut out using some green cardstock from my stash. For the flower centers I used Want2Scrap Silver Rhinestones.

For finishing touches, I added a Lace Corner Deco A by Cheery Lynn Designs.

The Best Days of Our Lives

Hi!  It's Karen posting today.   There's just something special about the sweet patterned papers from Simple Stories, and I can't seem to get enough of them! 

For this card, I used three different patterns of paper from the Simple Stories Summer Fresh 6x6 Paper Pad and machine stitched them together.  These papers can be mixed and matched SO beautifully, you will definitely want to pick up this set!  

To embellish my card, I hand dyed some of the sweet Chalk White Seam Binding from Classy Cards 'n Such to perfectly match my patterned papers.  I will be sharing a tutorial with you very soon to show you how easy it is to dye your own seam binding.  

I also attached a few of the Zva Creative Flowers in classic red, olive green and white.  These darling Paper Flowers come in several colors and have the long green wire stems that you can wrap to make the sweet little stems you see on my flowers.  They're just delightful, high-quality paper flowers, and once you order one color; you will surely want them ALL!  

I used a rub-on from my stash for the sentiment, and adhered it to a Spellbinders Labels Eighteen die-cut.

A Gorgeous Hydrangea!

Hi, it's Misti.  Is anyone else wondering where this year has gone???  I can't believe that the calendar says it's June.  

I was talking with a friend the other day & she shared that a co-worker of hers is having a really hard time with survivor's guilt from the recent tornadoes that devastated parts of Moore, OK.  She asked me if I would make a card for her to have everyone in the office sign.  Blue & not too much girly stuff was the only direction she gave.   It was just a reminder that yes, there are families who lost loved ones during the tornadoes that are hurting along with the first responders, but there are survivors who are silently hurting.  If you are a person of faith, would you mind saying a prayer for those affected by the tornadoes that have hit Oklahoma in the past few weeks?  Thanks so much!  

I colored the white satin string with my Tim Holtz Faded Jeans marker & set it aside to let it dry.  It colored up beautifully.  You can make that white string any color that you need!    I used Faded Jeans, Tumbled Glass, Vintage Photo & Peeled Paint to watercolor the Hydrangea Posy Branch from Heartfelt Creations with my watercolor detailer brush.  I cut it out & popped it up onto the embossed panel.  I used the Flower Flourish embossing folder by Crafts Too and some designer paper from the Glitz Vintage Blue 6x6 paper pad.

Such a beautiful card, Misti and such a timely prayer request.   The tornadoes are out of the news for now but there are many that are still hurting from this and other recent tragedies!

Just Swingin'

Hi Classy friends!  It's Holly posting today.  Yes, I'm still on sabbatical while guest designing for Cheery Lynn Designs this month, but I had to get one more Father's Day card done.  This one is going to my Grampa - I call him Pa for short.  LOL!

Grampa grew up on a farm, so chances are he had a tire swing or two when he was growing up.  I'll have to ask him when I give him this card.  That was the inspiration for my card today when I saw this fun set of dies from Spellbinders called Just Swingin'.  (Oops, looks like this one sold out as soon as it hit the store!  Never fear - there are more on the way!)

I pulled out four of the dies from this Just Swingin' set.  The tire was cut from black cardstock, the rope was cut from Kraft cardstock, the tree was cut from green cardstock, and I cut the background from light blue cardstock.  I glued all the pieces together and then checked it out.  It needed a little something, so I cut out the Resting Birds from a red cardstock.  I picked one out of the five birds that were cut and glued it to one of the branches above the tire.

To balance out the top-heavy tree, I decided to cut out the letters to spell out "Pa" from the Parker Upper Alphabet and the Parker Lower Alphabet die sets.  They fit perfectly in the lower right corner.  I adhered this whole scene to a Kraft card base.

This is a great card to give to someone who doesn't grill or golf or fish.  Hopefully this will bring back some great childhood memories when Grampa sees this card.  :-)

Grill in the Window

Hi folks!  It's Holly posting today.  I'm still technically on sabbatical while I'm doing my guest designer stint over at Cheery Lynn Designs, but I had to make some cards for Father's Day.  This is the one I'm sending to my Dad.

I kept this clean and simple.  I started with a Kraft card base and then I scored the front of the card with the Scor-Buddy every 1/4" inch.  I know it's hard to see, so here is a close-up picture:

The window was cut with brown cardstock and the Grand Madison Window die. I cut the Party Grill from white cardstock and then colored it with my Copic markers.  The grill was adhered to the back of the window, and then I trimmed a piece of pale blue cardstock and adhered that behind the grill.  The entire window piece was adhered to my scored kraft card base.  My finishing touch was to cut the letters from the Parker Upper Alphabet set and I arranged them to spell DAD below the window. 

I didn't add any other embellishments since this is going in the mail.  Also, my dad isn't into a lot of foo-foo, so I think this will be perfect.  I hope he likes it!  :-)

The Cat and the Grill

Hi folks!  It's Holly posting today.  I'm still on sabbatical while guest designing over at Cheery Lynn Designs, but I had to share the card I made for my hubby for Father's Day.  

I used the following dies and papers from Classy Cards 'n Such to create this fun scene:

Party Grill die

Walking Cat die

Grass border die

Puffy Clouds dies

Grill Masters dies

Kraft cardstock

Luminized Curious Metallic Silver cardstock

Summer Fresh 6x6 paper pad

I cut the party grill from the silver cardstock and then used a black Copic marker to color in the grill.  I also cut the tongs and the spatula from the same silver cardstock.  It's so shimmery - I love it!  You can see the shimmer on the grill here:

  

The grill mitt was cut from red gingham paper from the Summer Fresh paper pad for a fun little pop of color.  The clouds were cut from white paper, the cat from black paper, and the grass from green paper.  I sponged a little blue ink across the top of my white background and then I sponged some green ink across the bottom.  After everything was glued down, I adhered my scene and the three utensil squares onto a Kraft card base.

This card was so much fun to make. I think my hubby will like it. I hope I can keep it hidden until Father's Day!   :-)

This is such a cute card for Father's Day, a summer birthday, or an invitation to a barbecue!
