Best Friends

Hi friends, it's Jenny posting. I created this card for our latest challenge at Classy Cards 'n Such. I was so inspired by the wonderful warm plaids inspiration photo. I began by looking through my stash of design papers.  I love these papers by Bo Bunny and Graphic 45, I can always find something for every occasion.

After choosing coordinating paper I still needed a focal point.  I found this adorable Stampavie Sarah Kay Sofia Wishes stamp that I hadn't inked yet and I thought her "Holly Hobby" look was perfect for a warm/plaids challenge.

I stamped her using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored her with Copics in reds, oranges and yellows to compliment the design papers.  I cut the image using the largest Spellbinders Labels Eighteen die and then used the die as a stencil to sponge yellow distress ink around the image to soften the central panel.

I found nautical Cheery Lynn Designs Wheeler Doily die left over from another project.  It's out of stock at the Classy Cards store but there are some other lovely Cheery Lynn doily dies in stock.  Right now all Cheery Lynn Designs dies are 40% off with coupon code Cheery40.

I sponged distress ink around the edge of the yellow doily to add a touch of red.  The sentiment is from JustRite's Floral Vintage Labels Two Stamp Set.  It was stamped in black ink and then cut out using a Spellbinders Classic Circles Small Die.  I also used the die as a stencil and sponged more yellow ink around the perimeter of the circle.  Softening up the edges and using Spellbinders dies as stencils might just be my favorite crafting technique.  :)

This is such as fun challenge and hope you can join us this week.  I can't wait to see your plaid inspired creations!
