White Christmas Shaker Card

Has it started snowing where you are yet? Diana here today.  We've yet to see flurries but this year I'm a little more eager than usual. We got a new puppy - a Samoyed - and I know he will just love the snow. So between my sleepless nights with a two month old pup and this week's inspiration photo, I made a shaker card with glass glitter for snow.

I used PoppyStamps Grand Madison Window for my shaker front. The tree is done by clear embossing the stamped image on white card stock and then sponging Broken China and Chipped Sapphire for the nighttime sky. I also masked off a moon and added white stars with a white gel pen. To keep the glitter inside the two layers, I used clear cardstock, 1/8 Scor-tape, and foam tape.

I then adhered the window to a layer of kraft card stock cut down to size with Spellbinders A2 Matting Basics A. I couldn't help but add a touch of red using the PoppyStamps Small Blooming Poinsettia against a silver spray of Memory Box Bamboo Shoots. The sentiment is from Sweet 'n Sassy Christmas Joy.

Let Love Grow

It's Thursday afternoon, and Mindy is back with you. Sharing a card I made, that can be used for a Thinking of You, or a birthday card. I am so excited to be using a new die set, Distressed Addington Collage set by Memory Box  There are several styles in each set that can be used in many different ways to create beautiful die cut images.

To begin my card, I used a sheet of watercolor paper, and colored it with the Indigo, and Terre Verte Color Burst, by Ken Oliver Crafts, for my background. I then added the die cut background on top, using Joy! Small Foam Pads to adhere the image above the watercolor paper.

I then stamped the floral image from Hope and Love Vintage Labels Eight and Nine from JustRite Stamps, to some white card stock, along with die cutting a set of leaves from the Open Scroll Leaf die from Impression Obsession. The die and stamped image were adhered to the front panel, along with adding a few Water Dew Drops, from the Robins Nest, for accent.

An Ocean View

Hello, it is Shirley posting today. Summer is passing so quickly, so I wanted to make a beach theme card to share with you today.

I love the ocean, and I have not been to the ocean in a couple of years, so I made an ocean scene to view on a card.

My white card base is followed with a layer of blue card stock and gold card stock. I put a piece of Graphic 45 By The Sea for the next layer. Using a hexagon overlay die to cut the top layer to go over the Graphic 45 paper.

The lighthouse is also from the Graphic 45 By The Sea  paper pad. I used the Impression Obsession Mini Nautical Set to cut the anchor, the ship wheel and the life buoy.

I adhered them to the card using Art Institute Dries Clear Adhesive.

The final detail to my card was taking a piece of recycled thick twine  from a gift bag and made the sailor's knot.

Hello, Diana here!

How do you approach color inspirations? Unless I happen to have the perfect patterned paper with the exact colors, (which is really rare!), I open my stash of scrap paper and pull out the colors in the challenge. I just keep the stack in mind while I go through my stash of stamps or dies.

I love these colors together. I'm a huge fan of the dark red. And though I had initially thought that would be my primary color, it didn't quite work out that way, but I still like the final product.

I used the pink and dark red for my flower, and green for the stem and leaves for the Memory Box Pennington Rose. That left the blue for the card base and tags of the MFT Blueprints 13.

I used an embossing folder from my supplies to add texture, and applied a row of Baby White Pearls.

The Scripty Thanks die (not in the CCNS store), is from Impression Obsession, and adhered using Art Institute Clear Dries Adhesive, along with the Wink of Stella Glitter Pen.

The Hand That Bears

Good afternoon friends!  Joy here today. The Classy Cards 'n Such challenge #97 is to use this photo for inspiration.  Isn't this the sweetest photo?

Here is the card I made:

Two things just popped out to me - the texture of the shrubs and the soft colors of the bunny.  He is just adorable! I used the khaki and white in his fur, and the green shrubbery as inspiration.

The embossing folder is one of the fabulous ones from Anna Griffin called Juliet Damask. Anna Griffin folders are amazing. I've never been able to get really outstanding embossing except from her folders. Just try one - you will be so surprised!

The sentiment is from Sweet 'n Sassy called God Is. The sentiments in this set are a soft delicate handwriting. Because the embossing is so detailed, I used some 1/2 inch Scor-tape to adhere it to a piece of white card stock on top of the khaki.

Watercolor Orchids

Good morning! Diana here, and I'm excited to show you a new technique I tried after seeing this card.

I placed the Cattleya Orchids Gold Outline Sticker sheet by Elizabeth Craft Designs onto watercolor paper and painted using the Twinkling H2O's Thankful set. After it was dried, I peeled off the sticker to reveal the clean white lines.  Isn't the effect just wonderful?  I love how shimmery it is in real life.

To frame my tiny little painting, I did some "off the edge" die cutting with the oval from the Spellbinders A2 Filigree Delight set. I cut in halfway with the oval, turned it around and cut into the other half, leaving the top bud and bottom stem whole. I then cut that around by hand. The large A2 Filigree Delight die is then matted on purple card stock, on top of a white base layer. I then added the intricate side dies by trimming off the lacy part of the Tranquil Moments by Spellbinders, (not in store) to the side of my card.

Finally, I added some pearls with the Ice White Viva Decor Pearl Pen. I don't think I've ever not added pearls to this die cut!
