Fairyland Butterflies

Hi! Diana here with a simple yet striking card. I really like the dramatic effect of black against an abstract background. 

To create my background, I smooshed some different colors (Picked Raspberry, Shaded Lilac, and Broken China) and spread them on a watercolor sheet using clear cardstock. I then die cut the Memory Box Fairyland Butterflies out of black cardstock and used Ultra Thick Embossing Powder on the entire die cut. It made the butterflies dimensional and shiny. 

I then trimmed the watercolor sheet to fit on a black card base, leaving a strip of black to show through. I also glued some clear dew drops to add to the watercolor look.

Feel Better Soon

Hello, Diana here with a bright card to cheer someone up!    What do you do to feel better?  Seems like a cliche but a cup of tea really does make me feel better... especially paired with some chocolate.  A handmade card can also do the trick - so nice to see a written card amongst the pile of bills and ads in the mailbox - especially now that Christmas has passed.

To make my bright background and teacup stack, I sponged a sheet of white card stock die cut with the largest Spellbinders A2 Matting Basics A as well as a scrap sheet (big enough for the teacup stack die).  I used the colors Evergreen Bough, Broken China, Picked Raspberry, and Shaded Lilac. I then placed the gorgeous flourish die from Our Daily Bread Designs Vintage Flourish Pattern. 

The PoppyStamps Teacup Stack was cut once from the sponged scrap paper and then another four times on white card stock. I then stacked all the die cuts using some Art Institute glue. I love the dimension it gives. Finally, I added a ribbon and a tag using ODBD Mini Tag Sentiments and Dies.

Thanks a Latte

Hello!  It's Diana with you this morning.  Have you gotten those thank you cards written for all your Christmas presents?  I've got an easy design for you in case you're in need of some.  

You want to first sponge some white card stock with your favorite colors of distress inks or sprays.  Here I used Squeezed Lemonade, Peacock Feathers, and Broken China.  I then die cut this darling PoppyStamps Teacup Stack out of the sponged card stock.  My top layer was cut to size with Spellbinders A2 Matting Basics A and Impression Obsession Fancy Border Cutout.  

I  glued my teacup stack die cut on there and stamped a thank you note and embossed with black detail embossing powder.   I then popped up this layer on top of the sponged colors so that the colors could peek through.

Let It Snow two ways

Hello! Diana here today.  Did you have a white Christmas? Ours was just a bit damp but no snow. Oh, well, I can still bring on the snowflakes in the craft room though! I made two cards with this Let it snow stamp from Quietfire Design. On the first one, I used clear embossing powder on plain white card stock and sponged in different blues: Broken China, Chipped Sapphire, and Salty Ocean distress inks. I then used Spellbinders A2 Matting Basics A to trim it out as well as make a matting for my white card base. I added some snowflakes using Impression Obsession Small Snowflake Set and popped up my sentiment with some large foam tabs.

For my second take, I clear embossed on watercolor paper and instead of distress inks, I used Ultramarine Blue color burst. The card is brighter but the "let it snow" did not pop up as much so I colored it in with a white gel pen. Which do you like better?

The Season of Music

It is Shirley here today.  I hope you all are having a joyous time celebrating Christmas with your family and friends.    My card today is a little different for a Christmas card.  The music on my card today reminds me  of days past, when I was a child.  We had such a good time singing Christmas carols and celebrating the season.  

I started my card by sponging my card stock with Picked Raspberry,  Mustard Seed and Evergreen Bough Distress stain.  

I stamped the sentiment on the card using Impression Obsessions' Christmas Sentiments stamp set.  I adhered the Memory Box Party Music over the top of the sponged colors.   I used silver card stock to make the Small Snowflakes by Impression Obsession.  I wrapped my card up by adhering the pieces to the card using Art Institute Dries Clear Adhesive.

Winterberries tag

Hello!  Diana here today wishing you a very Merry Christmas.  I hope you have all your gifts wrapped and ready, that you arrive at your destination safely, or if you're hosting - you're done cleaning and prepping so that you can enjoy Christmas with family and friends.  One last tag to share with you today - it would work well as a Christmas tag (if you're in need of one in these last moments) or you can stick in on a card and send it anytime during the winter.

The tag has lots of pretty details but it didn't take long to put together.  I used a My Favorite Things cross-stitch die for the base of the tag, a circle punch and the stitched circle from My Favorite Things Blueprints 13 for the tag element where I could attach the ribbons.  I sponged all of it along the edges with Broken China and then stenciled some snowflakes using  Memory Box Winter Tiny Snowflakes Stencil,  Dreamweaver's white embossing paste, and a palette knife. It's hard to see in the photograph but it adds some lovely and subtle texture.

While the paste was drying, I die cut the new PoppyStamps Holiday Winterberries out of watercolor paper and colored it with watercolor brush pens. I then it adhered it to the tag with Art Institute glue, added some ribbon, and I was done!
