You are the Light of My Life

Good morning, Steph here.  I just had to have this Antique Lantern Stamp set from Heartfelt Creations.  It's a nice, deeply etched rubber cling set that stamps amazingly well.

 

I stamped it on white cardstock, then colored it with an assortment of Tim Holtz Distress Markers in Antique Linen, Bundled Sage, Fired Brick, Forest Moss, Old Paper, Mustard Seed and Rusty Hinge.  Using a Water Brush, I picked up the colors and colored the image.   I used Vintage Photo and  Rusty Hinge Distress Ink around the image and the sentiment.

Mounting the image on brown cardstock, I adhered it to the card and added the sentiment in the upper left corner.

A Chirpy Easter Card

Hi Classy Friends!  It's Holly posting today and I would like to share this cute Easter card with you.  You still have plenty of time to put your order in at Classy Cards 'n Such to get this adorable stamp and the dies to make this card to send Easter greetings to your friends and family.

I started by stamping the adorable Chirpy (Stampavie) onto white cardstock with some black ink, and then I colored it with Copic markers.  I used some fine detail scissors to cut it out.

My card base is a light blue cardstock, and I die cut some Puffy Clouds from white cardstock and adhered them toward the top of the card.  I glued a small strip of light green cardstock to the bottom of the card and then I die cut the Victorian Picket Fence (Cheery Lynn Designs) from kraft cardstock and glued it near the bottom of my card. I die cut the Grass Bborder (Cheery Lynn Designs) from light green cardstock several times, and I glued down several layers of the grass on the bottom of the card.  

I stuck some Joy Foam Pads (small) to the back of my colored Chirpy image and nestled it down into the grass.  I pulled some of the grass pieces out from the sides and arranged them to frame the egg.  An Easter sentiment was stamped inside the card.  

I love this adorable Chirpy stamp.  It's just perfect for creating cards to send to young children as well as those who are young at heart.  :-)

Yellow Rose Sympathy card

Good morning!   I recently inherited a large Yahoo group - Cuttlebug_Itis.  I served as moderator of the group for several years and earlier this year, the owner decided to step down and asked me to take the reins.  Although the name implies it's for Cuttlebug owners only, it's not.  Our posts apply to any die cutting machine that uses metal dies and embossing folders, but are not for the electronic machines such as Cricut, etc.  

Even though the group has over 1,800 members, there is not an extremely high volume of posts right now.  We share tips on Thursdays and the winner gets a small prize.  

In addition, there are two sister groups which Cuttlebug_Itis members may join if they choose - a swap group which is just getting started and a photo group where pics are sorted by Cuttlebug embossing folders.

Happy Spring

Hi Everyone. It's Jenn posting today. I don't know about you, but I'm ready for Spring and if I can't have it in my weather then I will create my own Spring in my cards.

I started out with a 4.25 x 5.5 base of Pearlized Esse White Metallic. To the left side, I added a strip of Trendy Tape in Polka Dot Green.

Using some textured green cardstock and the Spellbinders D-Lites Fantastic Flourish One, I cut out the beautiful flourish and made it the focal point of my card. I added some White Pearls in various sizes to the mini flower centers.

Using white cardstock and a Spellbinders Labels Eighteen, I cut out a label to stamp my sentiment on.

For the perfect finishing touch, I added a Prima Gillian flower in White to the upper left hand corner. These precious little puffs of sheer fabric just "scream spring" to me.

The sentiment on this card could easily be switched out to make a classy "happy birthday" or "thank you" card. So many possible options and very little time required. When time is of the essence, I recommend using Trendy Tape in place of ribbon and a Spellbinders D-Lites Shapeabilities as your focal point. You can't go wrong.

Floral Flourishes Butterfly

Good morning, Steph here again and I want to wish you a Fabulous Day!

I selected assorted papers from the Love Letters paper pad to create my card base, lightly inking all edges with Ranger Pumice Stone Distress Ink.    The dot paper was cut slightly smaller than my card base and the light green layer was cut slightly smaller still.  Many of the papers in this pad are double sided, so I flipped over the light green paper and found a pretty swirl print which I used across the center of the card.

Using the  Floral Flourishes Butterfly die, I die cut the butterfly twice.  This die is very intricate and easily cuts, however, I found using a shim gave me a much better result.  Flipping one butterfly over and lining them up easily creates a butterfly in flight.
 
 

 
To create the body of the butterfly, I used the smallest die in the Spellbinders Nested Oval Medallion Labels set and placed it on top.  It was just the right size for it's body.
 

 
I decided to place a sentiment in the center of the butterfly, and selected a stamp from JustRite's Topsy Turvy Cakes.  I stamped the sentiment, then lined up the smallest Spellbinders Nested Oval Medallion Labels on top.   Because the sentiment needed to be in the center of the die, I used tape to hold the die in place while I cut it. 
 

 
I think the sentiment created a nice "body" for the butterfly and I used Joy Foam Adhesives to give it some dimension on top of the butterfly.
 

 
I die cut the larger 2 Spellbinders Nested Oval Medallion Labels from the same paper pad as I wanted to use this to anchor the butterfly.  Again, I flipped over the paper so I could use both sides.  I also inked the edges with  Pumice Stone Distress Ink and used Joy Foam Adhesives between the layers.
 

 
I used  Hot Pink Pearl Swirls from Want2Scrap which coordinates beautifully with this paper line.  I used one complete section of the Swirls for the right side of my card and cut apart the rest to create the antennae and tail.  Since these pearls are self-adhesive, you can cut apart sections while still keeping them intact.

Hummingbird Thanks

Hi Classy friends!  It's Holly posting today, and I'm sharing a spring-y card with a shimmery hummingbird on it.

I started out by die cutting the hummingbird from the Tiny Things with Wings die set (Cheery Lynn Designs) using white cardstock.  When I thought about how to color it, I immediately knew I wanted to pull out my Twinkling H2O's.  I colored the beak with an orange Copic marker first and added a tiny little black dot for the eye with a black Copic marker.  Then I pulled out my Think Pink collection of Twinkling H2O's and decided on my colors.  I used a touch of the Dreams Bloom color (pink) and applied it to the belly, and then I used the Lucky Apple color (green) on the rest of the hummingbird.

While that was drying, I set about creating the rest of my card.  I die cut the Ankara Lace Doily with white cardstock and stamped the sentiment from Stampavie's Celebrate stamp set with some gray ink directly in the center of the doily.  I thought black ink would be too harsh - I was going for a softer, spring-like feel for my card.

I stamped the pale pink background layer with the fabulous Gingham - Cover-a-Card stamp (Impression Obsession) and then adhered the white doily to this gingham layer.  This was then layered with a white layer and then adhered to a darker pink card base.  

I had the most fun cutting out all the flowers and then mixing and matching to get a combo that I liked.  You should have seen my pile of daisies!  So much fun!!  I die cut a bunch of orange, pale pink, and darker pink daisies from two different daisy dies.  The larger daisies are from the Daisy Strip die (Cheery Lynn Designs) and the smaller daisies from the Darling Daisies die (Cheery Lynn Designs).  I layered the daisies together and then used some white brads to hold them in place.

The leaves are die cut from the Rose Leaf Strip (Cheery Lynn Designs) from white cardstock.  I colored them with the same Lucky Apple Twinkling H2O paint (Think Pink collection) that I used on the hummingbird.  I love this wonderful shimmery paint - it looks awesome on the hummingbird and the leaves!  You can see the great shimmer in the close-up picture below. 

I glued down the leaves and the flowers making sure I didn't cover up the sentiment, and then I glued the hummingbird above the flowers and sentiment.  I love how these flowers look against the doily and the gingham background!

Spring Best Wishes

Hi, Steph here with a card using a sentiment from JustRite Stampers Spring Words stamp set.   With the number of stamps in this set, you have lots of creative options!    

Using assorted papers from the  Love Letters 6x6 paper pad, I created a 5 1/2" x 5 1/2" card.  I love the wide variety of papers in this collection and the colors are beautiful shades of greens, pinks, browns and more, some of which are embossed and some of which are double sided. 

I selected Best Wishes from  the Spring Words stamp set.   Then I die cut the bird using the Spellbinders Bird Sanctuary set, inking the edges for a little dimension.  The Nested Oval Medallion Dies make a perfect backdrop for the bird so I cut 2 sizes and adhered the bird on top with Joy Foam Adhesives for dimension.

Pink Bling Birthday

Hi folks, it's Holly posting today.  This card has some gorgeous pink bling swirls on it - my first attempt at adding bling-y swirls.  I hope you enjoy it!

The Lake House paper pad

Swirls - Pink Rhinestones

My card base is an A2 dark gray cardstock, and I added a layer of patterned paper from The Lake House paper pad.  I then die cut the Turkish Lace Doily from dark gray cardstock and the matching Angel Wing from pale pink cardstock.  I glued these down onto the patterned paper towards the left side and trimmed the excess.  

The birthday sentiment was stamped on white cardstock and cut with a circle die and adhered to a Labels 22 die shape cut from a dark berry cardstock.  I glued this sentiment down in the center of the doily.

I cut out one of the pink swirls and pressed it down on my card, adhering the tail end to the bottom of my sentiment.  The leaf flourishes were cut from olive cardstock and glued down below the sentiment and the pink swirl.

To make my flowers, I die cut the white ones from the Medium Rose strip and the pink one from the Build a Flower Set #2.  I used some rhinestone brads to layer the white flowers together, spritzed them with some water, and then used my fingers to crush the leaves together.  I repeated this with the pink flower petals and a larger rhinestone brad, except I sprayed these flower petals with a shimmery pearl spray.  I let my flowers dry for an hour and then I glued them down onto my card.  I love the contrast of the shabby, crushed flowers with the shiny pink rhinestone swirl.

Vintage Thank You

Hi friends, it's Holly posting today.  I made a cute little thank you card to give to my mom and I thought I'd share it with you.  

Are you wondering about that lacy flower? Let me tell you what products I used from the Classy Cards 'n Such store, and then I'll explain how I created that lacy flower.  I used the following:

Vintage Blue 6x6 paper pad (Glitz)

Lady Kate edger die (Cheery Lynn Designs)

Hugs & Kisses Sentiments stamp set (JustRite)

Ecru Delight lace

Whimsy Perfect Petals resin flowers

8.5" x 11" Double Sided Adhesive Sheet

My card is a 4.25" square card and I cut the patterned paper to 4" x 1.5" and adhered them to a dark blue cardstock layer, then adhered that to my vanilla card base.  I added the Lady Kate Edger die cut (with vanilla cardstock) at the bottom of the card.  I stamped the sentiment with dark blue ink, cut the fishtail notch with my scissors, and adhered it to the patterned paper.

For my flower, I cut a small piece (round or square, shape doesn't really matter) from the double sided adhesive sheet.  I peeled the backing off from one side, and then stuck the Ecru Delight Lace onto the sticky side.  Working slowly, I folded the lace and pressed it down onto the sticky piece, going around in a circle.  When the lace started to overlap, I cut the end and tucked it down.  

I cut another small piece of the double sided adhesive sheet and peeled the backing off one side, and then I pressed the sticky side down on top of the lace circle.  Next, I removed the backing off the other side of the sticky tape and pressed the gorgeous dark blue Whimsy Perfect Petal flower into the center of the lace circle.

With my lacy flower completed, I peeled the backing off the sticky tape that was on the bottom of the lace and stuck this down on my card next to the sentiment.  This turned out even cuter than I "saw" it in my head!!

Lovely JustRite Sympathy

Good morning, Steph here again using an awesome With Sympathy stamp set from JustRite Stampers.  This stamp set has 12 different phrases, several small images, a frame and this lovely rose.  So, even though the stamp set is perfect for creating sympathy cards and projects, there are so many other options available to you.  I chose to use the rose as a focal image and created a generic card that could easily be used for Mother's Day or even a birthday.
 
Using Tim Holtz Distress Markers, I colored the rose with  Mustard Seed and Spiced Marmalade and the leaves and stem with Crushed Olive, Forest Moss and Old Paper.
 
 

 
I used the  Printery collection pad by Prima, selecting four different papers and using elements from each one, cutting and tearing for dimension.  The sentiment was also cut from one of the papers in this collection and added to the card front with Joy Foam Adhesives.
 

Once colored, I added a little glitter to the interior of the rose using Gelly Roll Stardust Pen.  This pen adds just the right amount of shimmer and shine and dries very quickly.

Daffodil for You

Good morning!   My card today is one of those that can be used for lots of occasions.   I used it for a sympathy card but it could just as easily be a birthday, thinking of you, just because and more.

I started with a card base of the new Hera cardstock.  Even though it doesn't show well in the photo, this is a wonderful beige that works with so many colors and cards!

Gold Leaf Curious Metallic was used for the mat.  The gold is a rich, muted color.  I embossed it with the Heather Border for a very delicate and elegant border.  I rounded the corners of the mat for a little added interest.

I chose a daffodil outline sticker for the focal point.  I love to use the stickers!  They are quick, easy and give an embossed look with no mess.  I placed the daffodil on heavyweight vellum and framed it with a frame from the Oval Frames sticker sheet. The heavyweight vellum did not curl when I colored it and has quickly become a favorite!

I cut around the frame and then colored the daffodil with a variety of markers - 3D Souffle, Metallic and Copics.  It was easy to put a touch of adhesive behind the daffodil and adhere it to the center of the gold mat.

Glittery Peony

Hi, Holly here.  Today I'm sharing this glittery peony card with you, and I'll be honest.  I totally squealed when I finished this card.  I love this glittery flower!!!

I started by cutting the Lovely Peony Outline from black cardstock and carefully pulling it out of the die.  I cut a piece of the 6x6 Double-sided Adhesive Sheet just big enough to fit the Lovely Peony Background and adhered one side of it to some white cardstock.  I left the adhesive paper backing on the other side and placed the Lovely Peony Background die onto it and cut it out.

Now with my sticky adhesive background flower and my black outline flower, I worked very slowly and carefully.  I peeled the backing off the top of my adhesive flower and laid down the black outline flower onto the adhesive, matching up the edges very carefully.  Once my black outline was in place, I pressed it down to seal the two flower die cuts together.

Next, I pulled out my Chantilly glitter and poured it over my adhesive flower.  This Chantilly glitter is gorgeous!  It's got a gold/yellow undertone with pinks and roses and and a hint of brown in it.  You can see the gorgeous colors in the close-up picture.  The areas that were not covered up with the black outline were the sticky part of the background flower and the glitter sticks beautifully to this adhesive sheet.  

I set aside my glittery flower and put together my card by cutting some papers from the Printery Collection (Prima) and glued them to some vanilla cardstock.  I wrapped some Black Cluny lace around the the middle of the two papers and glued them down on the back of the vanilla cardstock.  I then adhered the papers to a black card base.  The glittery flower was affixed to the card with some Joy Foam Pads (small).

I absolutely love the way the glittery flower turned out!  Now I want to try this with all the different colors of glitter that I have!  I could also use different colors of cardstock for the outline instead of the black that I used here.  Wouldn't this be gorgeous with some deep red glitter and a pale pink outline?  What about a sunny yellow glittery flower with a chocolate brown outline?  I could also see a beautiful blue glitter with a white outline and a purple glitter with a pale blue outline.  See, the possibilities are endless!!!  :-)

So pretty, Holly!  This is one of those cards that can not only be made in many different ways as Holly mentioned, but is also suitable for many occasions!
