Deer Trio

Hi everyone!   I needed a masculine birthday card and those are always challenging for me.   However, with the new Deer Trio from Memory Box, it became much easier!  

The card base is kraft paper.  I cut a beige mat using the new A2 Matting Basics B and then a smaller mat with the next smaller size.  I embossed the brown, smaller mat using the Bricks and Bark M-Bossabilities.  LOVE how this worked!   It did require a different sandwich in my Cuttlebug - A plate, M-Bossabilities with cardstock inside, C plate.  It seemed like it wasn't quite as tight as I'm used to but I got a good imprint.

I cut a white Mega Ovals, LG from Spellbinders and stamped the trees.   I cut the Deer Trio from white cardstock and sponged it with Antique Linen.  The Deer Trio comes with a paper base when you cut it out, but I wanted them spaced differently, so I cut the base away and mounted them with varying heights of foam pads.   I used gold lines to frame the card front.

I did a similar design inside, just on a smaller scale.  I used a Birthday Rubz for the sentiment and adhered it to the white cardstock by using a McGill stylus.  The Tweezer Bees are great for placing mats and other items on your cards.  It keeps fingers out of the line of vision.  :-)

Branch in the Window

It's Holly back again today with a window scene card for you.  I have been playing with some new dies that I got from Classy Cards 'n Such, and I can't wait to share this one!  

 

I started this card by using the Bricks and Bark embossing folder on some red cardstock.  To enhance the brick pattern, I used some Barn Door distress ink as well as some dark brown ink to do the Cuttlebug Highlights technique from Technique Junkies.  I wanted a worn, shabby, country feel to my brick background.

 

Next, I die cut the fabulous Grand Madison Window from some natural white cardstock, and then I sponged some Antique Linen distress ink around the window and the window panes.  Did you see the cute curtain inside the window?  I used one of the patterned papers from the Harvest Lane 6x6 pad and die cut it with the Lace Light Deco border (Cheery Lynn Designs).  I needed to cover up the window so the brick wall wouldn't show through, so I measured the die cut window and cut a piece of natural white cardstock to a slightly smaller size.  The window is popped up with some Joy foam pads (small) to give the window some depth.

 

The Bare Branch was cut from some dark brown cardstock and I adhered this directly over the window.  Doesn't that give the impression that there is a huge tree off to the side with its limbs hanging down?  I love that.  :-)  I used the tiny leaf die (part of the Bare Branch die set) to cut multiple sets of leaves and then adhered the leaves to the ends of the branches.  Lastly, I die cut the sweet Nestled Bird from the natural white cardstock and then I sponged some Antique Linen distress ink around it to give a more realistic bird-like appearance.  I used a Joy foam pad (small) to adhere the bird to one of the branches.  

I love these window scenes!!!  And the possibilities are endless!!  There is a window box and a shutter die for each size.   So cute!!!  You can see all of the Poppy Stamps dies here.

DT Call and Rusty Chicken Wire

Hi folks!  It's Holly posting today, and I'm sharing this rusty chicken wire card with y'all.  Look at the chicken wire on this card.  I cut that from kraft cardstock - yup, kraft!  I used a Faux Rusty Metal technique from Technique Junkies to transform this from plain kraft cardstock to rusty metal.  Isn't that cool?  :-)   

I used the brand new Chicken Wire die (Cheery Lynn Designs) and transformed the kraft die cut with the Faux Rusty Metal technique, and then I adhered this to a piece of patterned paper from the Harvest Lane 6x6 pad.  I stamped the sentiment (from Stampavie's With Love set) directly onto one of the little tags that is in the Harvest Lane 6x6 pad.  I wrapped some linen thread around the middle and then adhered the sentiment with Joy foam pads (small).  The pretty flower and leaves are from Judy's Blooms die set (Cheery Lynn Designs).  I die cut the flowers from vanilla cardstock and then sponged some rusty orange ink onto the petals.  Once the ink was dry, I turned the petals over onto a Craft Molding Mat and used a stylus from the Paper Blossoms Tool Kit to give the petals a curved shape.

Pink Butterfly

Hi everyone!

I've got a really simple, but elegant card to share with you today.   I wanted a tent card so I cut a 4" x 11" card base from Rose Quartz cardstock and scored it at 5 1/2".

I tried the new A2 Matting Basics A and A2 Matting Basics B for the first time and it worked like a charm!  These two new Spellbinders sets allow you to cut perfectly straight mats every time!  To get a narrow margin, I used the second largest die from each set for a 1/8" margin.  I could have used two dies from the same set for 1/4" margin, but for this card, I wanted the 1/8" margin.  I embossed the top pink mat for some additional interest, but it wouldn't have been visible on the white mat.  I added copper ink around the edges of the white mat.

I cut a Picot Edge Circle (second largest die) out of Cryogen White because of the subtle sparkle (love that!) and added foam pads to the back for dimension.  I cut the Floral Flourishes Butterfly by Joy! Craft from Rose Quartz and shaped the wing by using a stylus from the Paper Blossoms Paper Tool Kit.  I used Art Institute Dries Clear Adhesive with the Metal Tip to put a narrow line of adhesive down the back of the butterfly.

For the finishing touches, I added tiny pink pearls around the circle area of the Picot Edge Circle.  I used gold lines to frame the design.  And there you have it!

This card works so well for so many occasions!   I will be using it for a wedding gift, but it could easily be used for a birthday, encouragement, get well and more!!

Holly's Fall Delight

Hi folks!  It's Holly posting today, and I'm sharing this fun fall card with y'all.  This card took less than an hour to make, from cutting the cardstock and papers and die cutting the flowers, leaves, and flourish, to adhering all the parts down on the card base.  

Here's how I did it:

I started with a general idea for a sketch and then played with the papers in the Harvest Lane 6x6 pad.  Those papers determined the colors of cardstock I picked out - chocolate brown, olive green, and a sunny yellow.  The card base is a neutral ivory that I sponged with some Antique Linen distress ink.  I adhered a layer of olive green cardstock and then a layer of paper from the Harvest Lane 6x6 pad.  There are several pages that have some fun signs and sentiments, so I cut one of those out and cut another small square from some rust-colored paper in the same pad and adhered those to the card. 

The border at the bottom is the Lace Light Deco border that I've cut from chocolate brown cardstock.  I cut this piece in half and layered one behind the other for a different look.  I also used the same brown cardstock to cut a Mini Fanciful Flourish and adhered that to the rust-colored paper.  Next, the leaves were cut from olive green cardstock using the Leaf die, and then I used the Sunflower die with chocolate brown and sunny yellow cardstocks.  I sponged a little bit of Antique Linen distress ink on the flower petals to distress them a wee bit, and then I curled up the edges with my fingers.

 I love how this card came together, and the Harvest Lane papers and Cheery Lynn Designs dies made it so easy!  :-)

Diamond Thoughts

Happy Fall, paper crafters!  It's Holly posting today.  After another long, hot summer, I'm ecstatic to see fall on the way.  I'm sharing this warm, fall-themed card with you today.

 

I started by embossing a piece of green cardstock with the Flower Flourish embossing folder and then doing a Cuttlebug Highlights technique (Technique Junkies) on that piece.  I cut a couple of squares from the gorgeous Harvest Lane papers (Simple Stories) and then turned them so they look like diamonds.  Some warm blue paper was used to cut some flourishes with the Fanciful Flourishes die (Cheery Lynn Designs).  The sentiment is from Anytime Sentiments (Impression Obsession) and it's stamped with a chocolate ink.  This is a great fall card that is flat enough to be sent in the mail with no extra postage.

Lacey Floral Sympathy card

Hi papercrafters!  It's Holly posting today.  I needed a sympathy card for a dear friend as one of her family members passed away recently.  Instead of going with a regular square or rectangular card, I decided to make a circle card to gently remind my friend of the "circle of life."  I'm hoping these soft colors and delicate flowers give my friend some comfort as she mourns with her family.

I started out by cutting some chocolate cardstock with the beautiful Lacey Circles die (I used the largest one in the set).  I cut out a smaller layered circle from some patterned paper (Gabrielle paper pad by Bo Bunny) and adhered that to the chocolate lacey circle.  Next, I cut out a Country Girl border from chocolate cardstock and adhered that to the lower half of the patterned paper circle.  I picked some more papers from the same paper pad and die cut the flowers and the mini flourish.  The petals of the flowers were pinched and fluffed up with my fingers, and I adhered some cream buttons to the centers of the flowers. 

For the inside of this card, I cut a circle from cream cardstock and stamped the sentiment from the With Sympathy set (JustRite) in the center.  I adhered this to another chocolate lacey circle.  I scored a line across the top, folded it, and adhered that to the back-side of the floral card front.  When doing a card like this, you need to take a little extra care to make sure things are lined up properly.

Apples

It's Holly posting today, and I'm ready for some fall weather.  This card definitely says "fall" to me - the leaves turning from green to yellow, the ripe red apples, the grass starting to turn that harvest straw color, the teensy little hint of coolness in the air....  ahhhhhhh.  :-)

I stamped this gorgeous Apples (Impression Obsession) stamp with black Stazon ink onto watercolor paper and then watercolored it with the wonderful Distress Ink Markers and the Tim Holtz Water Brush - Detailer Brush Nib.  I worked from the lightest colors to the darkest colors, letting each section dry before moving on with a new color.  I didn't want to get too precise with my coloring, as I was going for a breezy, artsy, watercolor look.

 

Once the watercolored image was completely dry, I distressed the edges and matted it with some black cardstock that I've turned into a Torn Frame (Technique Junkies technique).  The red cardbase is stamped with the Thick and Thin Cover-a-Card background stamp (Impression Obsession) and I wrapped some twine around the top and tied it off with a green button.

Hello everyone.  It's Linda with another card post for you today! 

I must confess that I have had some of the Cover-A-Card cling stamps from Impression Obsession for some time and haven't had a chance to play with them.  So I decided it was time to take stamp in hand and see how they work.  I used the Mega Mount stamp holder and it makes them so easy to use.  I also must confess that I had forgotten that I had originally been told that the Mega Mount works better if you place your cardstock on a magazine before you do your stamping.  I was complaining to Beverly that I was having a little trouble getting the ink to completely cover my cardstock and she reminded me about the magazine. Well, as usual, if you follow the directions, it works beautifully!  I really like how the Vines stamp looks in the background on this card.  I know I will be using this alot more.

After stamping my background with the Cove-A-Card stamp on white cardstock, I mounted that on the Stardream Fuse Azalea cardstock. For my focal point, I used a stamp from my collection and stamped it in the same color ink as my background.  I diecut this with the Spellbinders Lacey Ovals and mounted it on another Lacey Ovals cut from the Stardream Fuse  Azalea cardstock.  I cut the Cheery Lynn Designs Exotic Butterflies from the Stardream Fuse Azalea cardstock and added some hot pink pearls to highlight them.  To balance the other corners of the card, I used some additional pink pearls

Elegant Fall Card!!!

Hi paper crafters!  It's Holly posting, and I am sharing an elegant fall card with y'all today.  Whatcha think?  :-)

I started by stamping the elegant scrolled frame from Botanical Medallions & Banners (JustRite) onto some kraft cardstock.  Then I stamped the sentiment from Anytime Sentiments (Impression Obsession) right inside the frame, towards the top.  I knew I wanted to add some leaves at the bottom of this frame, so that's why I moved my sentiment up a bit.  I cut this framed sentiment out with a Nested Oval Medallion Labels die and adhered it to my card base. 

 

I cut a Mini Fanciful Flourish from brown cardstock and then picked assorted colors to cut several leaves using the Small Leaves #2 die set (Cheery Lynn Designs).  The yellow-ish leaves are cut from some paper that I used a Watercolor Distress technique on (tutorial from Technique Junkies).  I sponged the edges of the leaves and acorn, and then arranged them around the bottom of the frame.  

I love these deep, warm colors that signify fall.  Unfortunately, fall weather hasn't made it to my neck of the woods yet, but here's hoping!  :-)

Lace Hummingbird Flourish

Do you have a Pinterest board?   I recently started one and would love it you would follow me...just click the Pinterest button on the left of the blog.  And if you like the cards on this blog, I would really love it if you would pin the card to your board!  There's a Pin It button just to the right of my signature at the bottom of each post to make it easy!

I've been wanting time to play with some of the new Cheery  Lynn dies and finally did!  Well...I finally played with one of the new dies, but it's a start.  :-)

I started with a 5 1/4" x 5 1/4" card base of Pearlized Esse White Metallic cardstock.  You can really see the shimmer in one of the close-ups below!   I cut the first mat from Stardream Ruby cardstock using the smallest Grand Big Scalloped Circles (Spellbinders).   Ruby is really not red in this case but a very rich purple!

The largest die from Butterfly Circles was used to cut the next mat from Butterflies cardstock.  The embossed butterflies in this cardstock are so dainty!  The butterflies that are cut out from the circle die can be saved and used on another project.  I cut the Lace Hummingbird Flourish from the Ruby cardstock as well.  So delicate...but that's what hummingbirds are, right??  I placed a single Baby White Pearl in the center of the flower where the hummingbird is drawing nectar.  I used Joy! Foam Pads large and small to pop the hummingbird up a bit for some dimension.

Lastly, I cut the corners from the Lace Corner Deco E set and adhered them with a Quickie Glue Pen.

If you love hummingbirds like I do, you are sure to want some or all of the new hummingbird dies from Cheery Lynn! The two in addition to the Lace Hummingbird Flourish are the Lace Hummingbird and the Hummingbird.

Stacker Flower Tag!!!

Hi folks!  I needed a thank you card for a sweet friend who sent me a bunch of brads that she was getting rid of, so I pulled out all my Cheery Lynn flower dies and played around until this card came together.  I used one of the brads that my friend sent as a little reminder of what I'm thanking her for.  :-)

 I started by embossing some light pink cardstock with the Flower Flourish embossing folder, trimmed it down, and rubbed a white ink pad over the top of the embossed areas.  I created a tag from kraft cardstock and stamped Thank You at the bottom with black ink.  I punched a hole at the top of the tag and tied some Chalk White seam binding to the tag.

 

The leaves are die cut from the Build a Flower #1 set, and I used this same set of dies to cut the tiny pink tendrils that you see in the center of the flower.  The base of the flower is the Stacker Flower #6 die which I used to cut two layers of rose cardstock flowers.  All of these flower dies that I used automatically cut a hole in the center so all I had to do was thread all of the layers onto a white brad.  I started to curl the flower leaves for more dimension, but since this is going in the mail, they will get flattened out anyway, so I left them alone.  :-)
